Been on 50mg for 8 weeks and now 100mg for 6 days

Hi all. So I have been on sertraline for 9 weeks total, but 50mg for 8 weeks then recently up to 100mg for the past 6 days. I have been feeling anxious and just wondered if it's from the increased dose, also my appetite has gone like it did on the start up. Is this side effects from upping my dose, and how long will it take for them (kick in). I was feeling ok on 50mg but still had bouts of anxiety that's why my doc upped my dose.

Yes i think you do get the side effects again when you increase yr dose. You have obviously done very well as youve stuck with it for so many weeks. I was switched to venlafaxine a week ago from sertraline as after 5 weeks it wasnt working. X

hi vikki sorry to hear your not feeling great. I am on 8th day of 100mg and a total of 7 wks 4 days in. I feel ok no extra side affects just a bit of a fuzzy head but no anxiety. I do feel a bit lazy but that could be the propanlal which I will be shortly cutting down to 1 daily. hope you feel better soon.

So glad it's working for u nat, and u have stuck it out. I'm going to continue, as they were working on 50 but still with some bad days so I know I have to continue to feel the extra dose benefits. I'm not feeling to bad now, I think I made myself anxious from thinking of things, as a lot is going on with my partners family at the mo. Keep me posted on how your doing nat and I will do the same, it's nice to have someone to go through it with as we started the upped dose at the same time ish x

If you don't already have some, ask your GP about Diazepam . That will ease the anxiety while the 100mg kicks in. I take 150mg, and, for me, that's the perfect dose smile

I'm alps taking propranolol and my doc said she won't give me diazepam. I've rode it before so will do it again but it's just hard when I have have a lil boy to look after when the anxiety happens. Did u have side effects from upping doses each time and was one of them anxiety? Also how long before u started seeing the benefits of your upped dose? X

Hi all, hope you start to get some relief from the anxiety soon vikki, I was also given propranolol to steady me inbetween coming off cipralex (escitalopram) & going onto fluoxetene, however I found the effects of the propranolol were only temporary as my body got used to them. External situations dont help when you have underlying anxiety, I think diazepam is given after propranolol has been tried.

Dose changes will affect how you feel but it takes a while for things to settle, hang on in there smile

    Hi Vikki,

I was 4 weeks on 50mg and have been another 4 weeks on 100mg. The last few days have been the most positive in months. Not a full recovery but definite progress. Side effects seem very variable from person to person: I have kept my appetite throughout, although disrupted sleep and random headaches seem to be my main problem with the meds. Mornings are often a struggle but I'm feeling more motivated to face the day and achieve something, however small, so my self-confidence is gradually returning.

Keep going. I hope you settle into the new dosage soon and start to feel the benefits.

    Digsby
