Been on amitriptyline 20mg for 3 months

Hi there. New to the group & was wondering if you guys could offer some advice please. I was prescribed amitriptyline 3 months ago starting on 10mg then to increase to 20mg after a week. I have noticed i sleep better on the tablets & they have helped with my migraines, but i wake each morning with heavy tired eyes as well as a "vibrating & heavy" head (if that makes sense). Im wondering if 20mg is too high a dosage for me. Would welcome any advice or help please.

hi marshall, I have chronic nerve pain in both legs, trouble walking far, sitting, standing etc,I take 200 tramadol and 2400 gabapentin daily (for 17 years) and got these headaches on the back of my head with a sensitive area,as you take tramadol I was wondering if its that what caused my headaches (25mg to 50mg from tonight amitrypline) also something I've had latley is scs,and I've gone down from 400 tramadol and 3600 gabapentin to the above, the electro pulse gets to the brain quicker than the pain, aswell as an answer to the question about headaches if your interested in the surgery I am glad to tell,I was fed drugs for 16 years then came to germany and they offered this free,UK has it aswell. Ok if the previous is not for you ignore, sometimes its got to type aswell as talk smile

Hi,in the beggining I would take tramadol in 50s but fed up with being off my face all the time went to the pain clinic and was given 20 slow release tramadol 2x a day much better, some people in the hospital when I had the cables inserted and a battery in the cheek of my arse had the surgery and were back for check up had reduced there meds by half and 2 had gone from tramadol and 1000mg gabapentin daily to a big fat 0,now they work life is good, as I said ive reduced but will be increasing my gabapentin back up to the 3600 limit and hopefully cutting out the sh*tty tramadol. They can arrange the cables for headaches alsorts,I have a small remote for manual and my 9 year battery has a memory and gos up and down depending if I sit stand etc, I couldnt believe that my own country said nothing about this, I was even told by the pain clinic in swindon to take 4500 gabapentin and I did, then read and ask my dr he confirmed that anything over 3600mg the body will discard so Im a bit unhappy that 16 year of rattling when i walk, and im in germany and have the op as soon as,cost 32000,anyway see tramadol makes you talk to much and type to much lol, good luck with your appointment.

Hi , yes I agree, the heavy head does seem to be part of the side effects unfortunately. I did find it eased as time went on. Don't take it too late in the evening. I try not to take later than 7pm. Good luck. Hope the side effects ease for you

Hi guys! Thanx for your replies. I tend to take my tablets around 7.30 pm & go to bed at 10 30 pm (waking up at 7am for the school run. Sometimes however i dont finish work until 10 pm - meaning i take my tablets in work at 8pm, return home from work at 10.30 pm (so yes, unfortunately, i have no option but to drive having taken them) & go to bed at 11 pm, & i wake up at 7 am.

What times do you guys take them & how much hours sleep would you advise.
