been on zoloft 2 weeks 50mg can I stop now?

Basically can I stop using it now without side effects? Because I keep seeing a lot of stuff about horrible come down side effects, but they have been taking it a lot longer than I. I've had yucky side effects and now I'm 3 days into week 3 and bumped it up to 100mg and had no side effects for 2 days. Then I talked to my mom and she told me to get off of it, there's better healthier ways. So she going to help me eat the right things. No more wheat! Wheat reduces serotonin... eat a banana produces serotonin and so on... so I just want to know if I need to wean myself off for this short amount of time 2 weeks 3 days?

you need to check with your doctor as there are some short term side effects when stopping taking it

you could just tough it out (and btw that;s not advice) and you may feel the effects for a week or so ,  but is the banana diet realistic ?

"Another popular myth that is widespread on the Internet is that bananas improve mood because of their serotonin content. Although it is true that bananas contain serotonin, it does not cross the blood–brain barrier." -Google. so maybe not. But a better diet will help. I've been scraping by in getting whatever crap food I could afford for 4 years and I realized once my diet went bad, that's when life started falling apart. I couldn't sleep, started eating less, anxiety attacks all throughout the day, always angry or sad so I talked to my doctor and he prescribed zoloft. I have had the urge to eat more and that's the only thing I like about it. Maybe I'll just reduce dose gradually and quit to be safe. I would talk to my doctor but he's all about prescriptions. Idk just confused on what to do and wanted others advice and their experience.

The way to get the serotonin across the blood/brain barrier is as I've said.....when there is no protein in the stomach because aminos from proteins get to the brain quicker and keep tryptophan(a precursor to serotonin) out of the way. I suggest u leave two hours either side of a protein, then you can have your healthy carb. It works

I'm sorry to say this, but don't listen to your mum. Stay on the meds for as long as your doctor thinks necessary. As for bananas. Yes they do give you serotonin but only if you eat them either on their own or with another healthy carb such as bread.....your stomach must be free of protein ...carbs can only form serotonin in the absence of protein. So.....ditch the bacon and eggs at breakfast, have toast with jam and/or fruit. Morning snack.....banana, or any other fruit. Lunchtime......tomato whole meal pasta. A healthy snack bar in afternoon.....in the evening eat whichever meat and veg you need. At supper, some crackers (even with some butter). There is absolutely no need to give up wheat unless you have an intolerance. It will do you more good than harm. How do I know? My daughter and daughter in law are both nutritionists, both have degrees in the subject, and have worked with/advised the NHS. Good luck ....

God I have the same issue not as bad these past couple days but now it's chronic gas. The side effect just aren't worth it too me. I feel that it's hurting me more. Thank you for your reply. I'm supposed to take the pill right now, but I'll pass, cause it can't get any worse than it is taking it

I don't know if I agree or disagree... Why? I was sick 4 Yrs ago and Gp gave me these to take. So I did I went through all side effects and I got better. My problem was I stopped just like you are about to do. I was fine for few months then bang bang... I got worse sick again. And now I'm on them again and I regret coming off them as I was living a normal life. But it's ur choice! Best of luck xxx
