Been prescribed 10mg for headaches

So for the last year I have suffered from anxiety I would say. 8-9 months ago I was very down and would cry for no reason and was prescribed citalopram which I didn't take. I have since had a headache for 6 months everyday all day and been feeling zoned out and had a weird feeling . Hard to explain. To now I still get that feeling but I just feel like that's life and live with it ..what I can't cope with is the headaches . I have a headache all the time and now been prescribed amitriptyline 10mg to take at night. I had read good and bad things about it but what concerns me is I'm about to start a new job very soon and worried that starting these tablets will have major side effects on me that will affect the way I work and I don't want to be like that in a new job so just need some advice on what I should do

So have you started amitriptyline?
I think it affects everyone differently and worth trying. There’s a chance you won’t get any side effects and best to find out.
I took it for 20yrs ( far too long and would suggest taking it for 1 year max ) with little side effects but now suffering from taking it for so long internally.
However ideally should work out why your getting headaches/anxiety in the first place. Easier said than done but usually there’s a root cause.
Have you tried meditation/wellness or other things to help alleviate the headaches/anxiety?

I want to try it but I'm scared of the side effects and don't want to be all groggy etc when starting a new job. I probably will take them but just gonna get my eyes tested first before starting them. If you don't mind me asking in those 20 years did you try getting off them? I don't want to be on them for that long, but I guess it's better than having a headache all day everyday and feeling zoned out. IV never tried meditation or anything just painkillers

Definitely don’t take it for as long or as high a dose as me but they were very helpful initially and definitely helped me feel less depressed.
Maybe I was lucky but didn’t get any side effects. None at all.
You know yourself brst and depends just how down you are and how bad/constant the headaches.
Don’t think it’s a bad thing to try and if you get side effects just stop.
In hindsight I would have tried everything possible before taking the pills and should be a last resort.
What else have you tried?
Meditation has been very beneficial and you could also look at changing your diet. I’ve been vegan 6 months which has made a difference. Feel less groggy and heavy without dairy and meat in my diet.
Yoga is really good and please look onto alternative medicine.
Just whatever you do don’t get hooked on these pills. There’re good for the short term to get you in a good place but then would advise alternative therapy to keep you in your good place.
Depression is horrible so do what you have to do.
In short give them a go and if any side effects you feel uncomfortable with then ditch them straight away.
Hope this helps and feel free to reply whenever.
