Been sent for blood tests, what could they be for?

Hi all,

After about 10 years of nagging my doctors are finally looking into everything.

They've ordered a scan and blood tests about 'hormones'. Then they say if nothing shows they'll send me for a laparoscopy.

I don't know what blood tests are for, anyone know what they are likely to be? I don't want to ring them yet another time but will if I have to.

Many thanks.

Not a clue, I've only ever heard of hormone testing for those of us who had total hysterectomies. Am curious to know if there's a new test out there.

When I had hormone blood tests it was to check there was nothing abnormal in my progesterone and estrogen levels. Because the two are intertwined, low progesterone can lead to a thicker lining, as that hormone helps it shed it and estrogen dominance causes it to thicken; and the more lining you have the more severe your pain is.
