Been to see a specialist

Hi today I been to see a back specialist. Basically I have had enough being in pain unable to walk I jus want the disc out.

But my question is this. While doing the exam I couldn't rise my knee while sitting on the examination bed legs over the side etc. I can rise my right leg etc. This has alarmed me. Yes I can walk well and yes in pain. Things are very limited for what I can do. But to me to not be able to move I couldn't feel it to move yes the leg but muscle to move it. Or strangely even I thought what commands/ signals do I need to move it. What does this mean for me. Will i get this back or has this gone forever. Will it get worse

    Hi Rrr,

So sorry to hear you've been going through this awful pain and time. I do empathise as have been going through lower back pain myself the last year or so, and I've been lucky in that have still been able to do things and have mobility and not as bad as many people I know, but it has still got me so down and found it so hard to cope with.

I'm not a medical person or anything so afraid not too sure what these tests / symptoms mean, hoping that the doctors can give you some reassurance and the right treatment, hoping and praying that Rrr and remember God is the great physician and healer and I believe He is going to pull you through this, hoping and praying for that.

One thing that helped me marvellously for sciatica and other aches / pains in the past was something called Bowen Therapy. It is an alternative therapy, very safe, non evasive and relaxing. I had bother with sciatica down one leg for about 6 months or so and it was horrible, tried physio, chiropracter, all sorts but nothing seemed to work - but this Bowen Therapy was like a miracle and it really made such a difference and got it under control and took the pain away thanks to God! Maybe worth looking up to see if any practitioners in your area, I know it's quite an under the radar thing not so common, so hoping there can be someone in your area.

Also another book I was recommended recently by my osteopath was 'Back Pain Decoded' by Robert Shanks. Available on Amazon / Ebay I think in black and white is cheapest I found at £20 (UK money). I haven't read it all yet but looks good and lots of good advice details of gadgets, different therapies, etc worth trying - different from lots of other back books I've seen.

Hang in there Rrr, it's so hard to go through back pain I know, thinking about you and believing that a breakthrough is on its way.

Hi thank you for those kind words. Yes I do hope it will get sorted my mind is now set for the operation. I have had enough of it. But I am alarmed on this test I was aware I had difficulty but not to the extent I can't rise my leg with my knee it has caught me off guard. I will check out your advice mainly the books thoy as tbh I can't really afford that other stuff but will look at it. Best wishes

Hoping and praying that things improve soon Rrr, praying that God guides your decision and the outcome regarding the operation. I know it's not an easy thing to have to weigh up and there's no easy option. Ask God what He wants you to do in terms of that decision, that's all any of us can do when facing a tough decision.

Thinking about you and believing that you ARE going to get through this and be pain free again, I truly believe that - hang in there for now though.

      Craig
