Been to see my GP for severe depression and he wants to prescribe either Citalopram or Sertraline ,

Please could i get some thoughts on peoples experiances with these drugs.

Working and Taking anti depressants

Side effects

how long until theres a difference

Any replies would be greatly appreciated .

    Hi there, i was on sertraline for 18 days and i stoppes taking it abruptly because it gave me really bad heart burn. Long story short, i still dont feel all the way the same but i  went through a whole month of depression suicidal thoughts, lost emotions, didnt care anyone , hhad panic attacks. I will never go on anti depressants again after that.

    Hi Karen this is my 2nd time going on sertraline .. First time three weeks I was back to normal 100 percent this time took a bit longer but I could function after 3 weeks. Took 5-6 weeks to feel good again .. I did work all along sometimes I would take something if I was overly anxious but I got there and you will too ..

      Glad it worked for you . I am not a fan of taking medication but I've been depressed for so long I'm thinking its a way to uplifting myself , I am considering it and sertraline does sound like the better medication . Your reply has made me feel better about a possibility of taking it .
