Hi xx

I been told by doctors that it is acid reflux but when I look up acid reflux I never see what I have ..

Basically every now and then (mainly during the night)  I will get the most severe pain I have ever had around my stomach where my ribs begin all around to my back.. like someone has put a belt around me and is tightening it as much as they can! Its the worse pain ever it makes me sick and I litterally cant breathe.. it hurts more if I move slightly but its so painful I can stay still.. it lasts 10-20 minutes and then I am left with a horrid ache around my ribs.. sometimes I am left with a achy winding pain across my upper back that wont go for hours and hours and is unbearable!

Im on omeprazole 20mg twice a day and I still get the pain with this.. ive been to the docs 5 times with this and I just get told it's acid.. and to change my diet which I have done to a certain extent but still get the pain if I havent eaten anything I shouldnt do!

So anyway sorry for all that.. I am just wondering if anyone has had this so I can put my mind at rest and just deal with the fact that it is acid .. but im gonna be hassling my doc cos I cant handle the pain I get.. I fear goin to sleep at night incase I get it!!

Anyone relate?

    Hi

It could be a hiatus hernia and the pain you are feeling particularly in the back could well be referal. You can ease this by putting your hands on a wall, then lifting up on you feet, then dropping your heels several times. Works best if you have drunk a couple of glasses of water. Think a demo has been Dr Oz if this is not clear. Best of luck!

Hi. There are two conditions I have had that are similarish. I had a band of pain that went around my middle at roughly navel height mainly at nighttime. It was discovered I had duodenal ulcers which were dealt with and that pain disappeared. A few years later I had excruciating pain under my ribs which were as intense as labour pains but didn't ease off. Sometimes they would last for hours. However, it didn't happen at night. This was caused by gallstones. I also get the same symptoms if I have any painkiller with codene in it. Codene is known for causing biliary colic. It could be something like that. Having said all that, acid reflux when unchecked, can cause horrible pain like you are experiencing and will linger as stomach acid is very strong. If you reflux at nighttime it pools in your oesaphagus and leaves it damaged so the pain will be with you the next day. That would coincide with you waking at night. I suggest you ask your doctor to try another ppi to see if you can get one that works. I take Losec MUPS which is fairly good. Other ones have had no impact. Hope this helps.
