Been upped to 150mg and feel terrible

Doctor started me on 100mg 3 weeks ago. After my visit yesterday he decided to up my dose to 150mg.

I was just getting over the side effects from starting the 100mg and slowly started to get my productivity back. But, since starting the 150mg (day 3 on them today) I am just zapped of life.

I can't eat. All I've been eating recently is cereal (chocolate shreddies). I can eat chocolate fine. But I can't eat anything else. Can't eat a cooked meal. Sucks.

I am constantly falling asleep in the daytime. I am so zoned out sometimes that it's hard to function. I hope it improves soon I worry for my health if I'm just eating cereal and chocolate all day.

I find 25mg increases are easier to handle. I went from 100 to 125 a week ago and only really had one bad day from it. Hang in there and keep us updated.

100mg is a very high starting dose. I think most people start at 25mg. Your side effects must have been gross. But it will be worth it in the long run. Hang on in there ..try to eat some fruit..maybe some milkshakes and drink loads of water. There is light at the end of the tunnel

    Good luck

Your problem is 100mg is far to much of a starter dose don’t know where your Doctor is coming from maximum starter dose should be 50 mg up to 75mg after 10 days for a further 10 days then go to 100mg then stay on that for 4 weeks app see how it goes if you have to up then in 25mg at a time I think if you are on 100mg at the moment you should feel an improvement very soon this drug saved my life good luck

    Hi James

I have been on sertraline 50mg for three years recently it was increased to 100mg.I felt the same as yourself and went back to my Docters 4 weeks later and she said that the increase could take up to 8 weeks before I started to feel the benefit. Some people it takes a lot less depends on the person.I am now feeling much better and my eating is back to normal.Keep positive I know you don’t think that you can but hang in there you will soon feel better.I do agree that the initial dose of 100mg was quite high and shocked your Docters increased it within 3 weeks.Good luck and it’s always good to let people know how you are feeling x
