    You did not say what is your BP level, and what medicine was given to you.

    You can use diet and exercise to control your BP

    Sorry, can you put your weight again as I think you are either very skinny or extremely overweight at 400 kg.

    I'm thinking maybe your also obsessive about BP but like other poster said u haven't put your numbers and whether you have done a 24 monitor.

    I'm thinking also your not UK

    Hi Chiragray,

    Did you mean 131.4kg or 131.4lb? If that's in kg you're seriously obese unless you're more than 2m tall!

    Whether or not you need to take BP medication depends on what your blood pressure is. Since you don't mention the level, it's difficult to offer an opinion.

    In general, most of us can control our blood pressure to some extent by lifestyle measures, but some people have to take medication as well. Lifestyle changes include:

    - cutting salt to an absolute minimum (e.g. just a very little in cooking, not on the table);

    - exercising regularly by walking, swimming, cycling etc.;

    - cutting down on carbohydrates, especially sugar;

    - not smoking;

    - no excessive alcohol intake;

    - cutting back on coffee if you're drinking a lot of it.

      You know, losing some weight would help bring your BP down, or at least stop it going any higher. It would also reduce the risk of diabetes. 131.4kg is way too much, whatever your height. But then I suspect you know that already.

      Can you get any help from a dietitian?

    It is not necessarily that you will take Bp med for life....

    For example...in the last year i used to have high blood pressure (between 150/90 & 180/110 mmhg) , and i'm only19 ...but i had the meds for two months and then discontinued.. And it is going alright now

    I think you should monitor your Bp regularly while you are on meds... And see if can stop it or not ...of course with your doctor

    And definitely, as all good friends here said, you can control it with life style changes and diet..especially that you still at the begining... And in adition, anxiety will always increase your blood pressure

    Take a stand!

    All best wishes..

      Question: are these high readings your getting are they steady ? And exactly what are you doing when these readings are taken

      Pain , Anxiety , stress , all play a major role in BP readings .
