Sorry for being Rude, but your English is so poor that I have no Idea what you are saying.

I get what they are saying: they are scheduled for a tkr (total knee replacement) in January and are wondering what they should be doing as exercise in the meantime and what other people feel like. It is easy to find "how I felt after the tkr op" but there's nothing about before ...

I have to admit I had to Google tkr.

Hips and knees are very different, I know but I have to say that when my hip was at its worst only soft cushions and warm wheat bag offered any respite. The thought of stretching and bending made me cringe. Pain completely gone from day one and I hardly needed the prescribed pain relief. I did do exactly as I was told.

I have a friend who has had both knees replaced and she is delighted with the outcome. She says the considerable pain of the after op exercises is worth it.

Does your doctor not offer any advice? After all you are in a well known painful position and will be for another three or four months. S/he can surely be some help.

Good luck with the op when you get there.

Hi 7 weeks post TKR and due to have other one done before Christmas.

Walking was out for me but l did exercises that strengthen my leg and thigh muscles. These exercises are non weightbearing. l also walked in a water, in my case the ocean.

The pain increased and l struggled to find anything to ease it as l am allergic to opiates. However diclofenac helped ad did hot and cold wheat bags.

My doctor increased my pred and kept me on the higher dose 2 weeks before surgery to 4 weeks after. Then l started to reduce again.

TKR is very painful and although the knee is not sore the bones in leg and thigh as well as hip are still sore to touch. That will last a while. Now doing as much light exercise as l can ready for second operation.

Hope this is if some help. We all react differently. But once you can walk again you will be better able to deal with PMR.

    Good luck

it is very difficult going through each day. I was diagnosed in May and started on 20 mg of prednisone quickly to be raise to 30 then when things calm down a bit we drop me back down to 20 and I flared up bad. I went on vacation anyway and flared up even worse and was put on 40 mg which helped but did not make me symptom-free. I still feel like it’s difficult to walk because my hips are so stiff and tight, my upper shoulder area and upper arm area feels the same way as my hips and very limited range of motion. I am experiencing a lot of side effects from this dosage of prednisone which makes me feel is sick is the PMR itself. what is TKR?

    Total Knee Replacement.

I had to look it up too. I should have made the connection having had a THR.
