Did anyone else feel like they were going backwards when they first started sertraline? I have started it and today felt worse than I did before it. I started on Wednesday of last week.

I just sent a comment with a link to side effects on Zoloft and its gone for moderation... emm I wonder what will happen? I imagine they will not allow open discussion. I hope I am wrong.

Thats strange.... did it contain web links or email addresses as they are funny about that. Try re-sending it?

Yes, it had a link to a website, on the side effects from Zoloft. I am giving a workshop treating depression without drugs and was doing some research when I came accross this site.

What side effects did you find? Let's not wait to see if the link is approved.

      Hi Tom,

I have removed the post with the link as it was to a site unsuitable for inclusion in the forums and anyone can use google for side effects of any drug. If users want the link that was posted please use the Private Message service to request the details.

This site is an open forum and posts are users' experiences. If you do not think the posts are from genuine users then please do not use the forums and allow other users to continue with their discussion. We do not allow repeated posts "knocking" other users posts or forcing opinions on other users whether it be be pro or anti conventional or alternative medicine. Comments that do so will be deleted.

Are you saying you don't want anybody knocking this poison? It has destroyed my life! If you delete this, then I won't waste my time in telling 20 years of experience on this deceptive, physically addictive drug.

      Hi barna64,

Not at all. The user above was doubting the posts in these forums were from real users as some of the posts were success stories about medicines. These are open forums and you can post whatever you like as long as it doesn't breach the T&Cs.

      http://patient.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/398318-alternative-medicines-opinions-etc

The issue I mentioned above is some users will just use these forums to post in any and every discussion either criticising conventional treatments OR alternatives rather than posting actual information or expreriences that may be beneficial to other users.

So please feel free to relate your experience.

      Regards,

      Alan

I was advised by my GP that the first 2 weeks were pretty hard and they booked to see me again at the end of those first 2 weeks to check I was ok... I was fine.. I felt a dip at about the 3-4 months stage which I was advised was totally normal and what they expect (apparently some practitioner somewhere says that is a normal part of healing)... Good luck.. Stick with everything you are advised by your GP. Mine told me to trust her, I did and now I'm on my way out the otherwise xx

Hi Emily. I was also told to go back in 2 weeks, but unfortunately cannot see the same GP who put me on them as she is booked up or off. How did you feel in the first week overall? Was it terrible?

      Jane.

    Emilyha below is spot on.

1st 2 weeks can be a nightmare.....they were for me. But do not change course. Take it easy, give it 3 weeks, benefits felt after 6 weeks ish...... Don't come off them...... DM me if you feel worse.....

The medication does work. They're great.

Thanks, I know it can take a while to feel the effects, but I didnt know how long exactly? And how long it took to stop feeling a bit rubbish. I find distracting myself but I am worried all the time about side effects, which doesnt help! I will keep going smile

Thanks Emily - did you start off on 50mg. I was so scared of taking these things and constantly worry about them...especially as my friend had a bad experience on them. Did they affect your sleep?x

Hey... Yeah I was on 50mg and I wouldn't worry about your friends experience as we are all different. I barely felt any side effects until I started coming off mine this week. I can't really remember anything about the time when I started taking them as my whole life is a bit of a blur back then. I was sleeping up to 18 hours a day but that is a side effect of depression. Maybe had some weird dreams but that's about it xx
