hello Jane
i start taking half of the 25 mg since August and im ok i just increased it to 25mg and the only thing is i get stomach disconfort and nausea but im not sure if the medicine is the cause i also gain weight but i work out . speak to your provider and see i cut mine in half and i began to eat the whole 25mg.
i know it can affect your libido. IM 50 and im on the middle of the menopause and i try to stay with intimacy because i dont care to have sex either way but i love my husband and i try really hard to stay sexually active .

It is a slow process and you got to stay with it. Maybe 25 mg dosage is not enough. Consult your physician and he may up the dose.
It has taken me over 10 weeks to get the effect and I still have bad days every so often.
All the best and hope you feel better.

Hi Jane. From what l understand 25 is not enough. l did 2 weeks on 25 and have just done a week on 50. Had my first good day yesterday, which l am hoping is a good sign, but feel awful again this morning. l am hopeful as people say it does get better.

Hi Jane,
25 mg is a good starting point. I was diagnosed with GAD also. I struggled for many months with heart palpitations and extreme anxiety along with them. After several visits to my cardiologist and tests that all came back normal... nothing wrong with my heart. But still the frequent palpitations. My PCP doctor looked at my blood work and said it was all fine... he diagnosed me with GAD and prescribed 25 mg Sertraline. He said 50 mg was the regular dose and could go up to 200 mg. In the beginning, the 25 mg was making me feel strange, antsy, anxious, headache etc. I read about the side effects and also was told that I need to give it some time. After a few weeks, the palpitations stopped... and I had feelings of peacefulness and calm. I take the Sertraline in the mornings and I still would feel a bit antsy for about an hour or so after taking it. After 8 weeks, my doctor upped the dose to 50 mg. I really felt the difference and it was not good. I tried for 2 weeks, but couldn't handle it. I felt very depressed, lots of anxiety and jittery. I even tried cutting one in half to take 37 mg, thinking I could up it slowly. I finally went back to the 25 mg. and soon felt the calm again. I've been on the 25 mg now for almost 5 months and I feel pretty good... and now I don't even have the antsy feeling after taking it. Even thought my doctor said that 50 is the regular adult dose, I think it was too much for me, even though I'm 6 ft. 4 and weigh 196 lbs. So for now, I am good with the 25 mg. I filled the prescription for the 50 mg, so if I feel I need to increase I can. You might try cutting the 25 mg in half for a while and see how you do... then increase it when you feel ready for it. Good luck to you.
