So I went to see my Doc today and she’s boosting me up to 150 mg’s of Ven from 112!!!!!  Hope I dont get many side ecfects from the boost. The headaches are crappy to deal with. Sometimes its almost like I can feel mu pulse in my brain!!!!  My BP was up also today. Weird and I dont know if Ven causes that. Gotta go back in 3 weeks to see how I feel. Just wondering if anyone out there has increased BP caused by Ven!!!!!!!

    Hi John,

My FYI to you..I was prescribed Effexor Er about 12 Year’s ago for panic depression,anxiety.... after getting up to 225mg I will say it did work a nice relief for a change but never in my life did I think or was told the extreme difficulty to get off this med....  I wish I had known of other meds that had a much less half life and were easier to get off of...Everyone has a different experience and the smaller the dose probably a bit easier to come off...My withdrawal from this med has been one of the hardest things I have ever done ?. I never knew if I even missed one dose I would feel sick but missing 2 days, just 2 days vomiting migraine were a given factor for me. I only learned this because I shorted myself on vacation by 2 days...Finally this past New Years due to major stress and forgetfulness I forgot to refill and went 5 days due to holiday attached to the weekend ( my pharmacy was closed)...I thought I was going to die...My husband wanted me to take it as soon as possible as he grabbed it by the end of day 5....I said No....I had been without it for 5 days and said I have gone this long so I thought only a few more days and it would be over...I would talk to my doc and ask for something else.  Well he said by two weeks the worst would be over...No f...ing way...my medical doctor even agreed with me...He also said due to being cold turkey I could have cardiac arrested due to seratonin syndrome. Well I have continued cold turkey which is totally wrong and wish I had gotten off this med slowly years ago.

I still am having withdrawals but am lucky I am not working and have support of my family. They to have gone through hell with me...God Bless them.  Omega 3fish oil has helped for some reason but it’s a very good brand and worth the money. A good brand doesn’t taste fishy after taking.  If my symptoms of depression do return I will dam sure talk to a lot of people as more than one doctor regarding effects of missing a dose or effects of stopping . Whatever you do talk to your Doc and do not ever cold turkey a med...I really hate pharmaceutical companies for being allowed to push meds like they do before than just a few years of research....Always about the money....This was just my own experience but definitely check out more sites on withdrawing from this particular med....my anxiety with this med really started when I missed doses and thought I can’t go thru this every time

because now at 57 I am more forgetful .

I do hope my withdrawal will end soon. Things are much better but I know I couldn’t do this if I had a job...Just my own experience...Amy

Good morning Amy. Thanks for the info. I was on this med for 8 years and it stopped working for me. I then tried Bupropion and then Celexa. What a nightmare. So my new doc put me back on Effexor cause it worked before. Highest dose I was on was 75 mg’s. Gonna give the 150 another 4 months and then start to taper off, with my Doc’s blessing of course. Really hate being on AD’s but it has helped before. Hope you have a speedy recovery. Enjoy your day!!!!!

Hi Amy. I spoke to my Doc today and I’m going back down to 112 mg’s with the hope of getting down to 75 in the upcoming months. My hope is to taper off this med, hopefully, in the next 6 months or so. I know I’m in for a challenge but it will be better in the long run. Hope youre having a great day.
