Being sick?

Hi everyone
So it's been 5 days since I started the 10mg? And I've had a really sore stomach and headache pretty much every day (the headaches more so every night) but nothing I couldn't handle. Then last night was panic attack, cold sweats, puking, the lot. Anyone had this ?! I would have thought it was a bug if there wasn't so much panic before and I haven't had much human interaction to have contracted something to be honest. I'm surprised I'm alive and fit to tell the tale, honestly it was horrendous. I don't know how I'm gonna carry on taking them. I did have to miss last nights tablet because I knew I would throw it up straight away. Also should I change when I take them? In the hope that if this does happen it will happen earlier when my family is awake.

Emzo,
When I started on day 6 I had the same I was in bed sweating one min then freezing and my legs were trembling. It was horrible. I didn’t sleep at all for 5-6 nights and Yes I had headaches. My ears were clogged clicking in them. I called my Dr and he said cut pill in half for 5 days and then stop. He was going to put me on a Parkinson’s pill. That’s when I found this forum and Lois and Katekoggs and Ben and others helped me through this. I did the cut the pill for 6 days then went back to 10mg the trembling dissipated in the meantime and all other symptoms came and went. It was a roller coaster ride. Stick with it. I’m on week 15 and I’m doing so good. There’s light at the end of the tunnel. Call your dr. I take mine in the morning with food and a glass of water. I usually have a small bowl of cereal with fruit and small piece of toast. Keep positive it’s a great drug!

Xinding,
I had to look at my journal. Mine started on day 3 and just got more intense after that. Keep a journal it helps to look back and see the progression.

Yes, it's unfortunate that the side effects when starting these medications can be so severe (and often worse than the reason we went on the pills in the first place).
?The side effects do start to subside after a few weeks. For me, the first two weeks were the hardest.
?Like Will suggested, you could consider cutting your pills in half, and try taking the lower dose for a few days or weeks. Of course, that means it will take longer to work your way up to a dose that is effective for you.
?Hopefully, it was just a one off day, and you won't have that severe of a reaction again.

Thanks, Will! I'm plodding along on my 5 mg. of escitalopram;-). It has really made such a difference with side effects this time starting and staying on a low dose.
?It sounds like you are doing really well, too!!!

I'm also glad my Dr started me on 10mg and I've stayed there. I believe less is more. We just have to take care of Emzo!
