    Hi amir1361,

I had stapedectomy on my right ear last October. Certainly I was advised to avoid belching and to sneeze with my mouth open to avoid putting pressure in the ear for the first 6 weeks.

Clicks and bangs are quite normal and I certainly had those as my ear started to settle down after the op. I doubt you will hear anything at all in your operated ear until the packing is removed at the post op consultant appointment. It does get better and I now hear very well in my operated ear.

You have the packing in still correct? I am 6 weeks post Stapedectomy and my hearing has improved most during the last 2 weeks. There's a lot of swelling and draining the first week or two, so it's not an accurate estimate of your ability to hear.

The issue I have now is my tongue feels burned but I am finally starting to taste foods again after 6 weeks.

      Hi blessed1111

Thanks for taking time to answer me.it has been 9 days since I had stapedectomy but I can't hear better than before the surgery I am so worried Mos post I read there hearing improved after one week.but my hearing didn't improve after 8 days of surgery.is it possible that belching and burping make my surgery failed?

I certainly could not hear any better until about 6 - 7 weeks post op and certainly not until the packing comes out - that will be totally blocking your ear. It then continued to improve until about 12 weeks and has been consistently much better since then. Hang on in there!

You may have swelling still and drainage. My hearing did not improve until 6   weeks post operatively.
