I too was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy on Jan. 11. It is a very wierd experience. My mouth is droopy on the right and it feels numb, but its the left side that doesn't work right. My eyes are really bothering me. I normally wear contacts but can't and so my vision has really been impaired. I have had some headaches at night, I think it might be strain from working all day looking at the computer. They tell me it could take 6 weeks to get better. It's been 1.5 weeks and I really haven't seen impovement yet. I hope it gets better in a couple of weeks.

go to a specialist. have it checked. physical therapy may help to improve facial muscle.

or do it yourself exercise, face the mirror, try to move your facial muscles. in other words, make faces. enjoy the rest of the day while recuperating.

I was struck with Bell's Palsy at 3:00 pm February 3, 2010. It started in my upper lip and progressed from there, feeling much like a bad trip to the dentist. Within 24 hours I was in the ER having a CT and MRI to rule out stroke. I understand that pressure from inflammation on the 7th cranial nerve (trigeminal) is what causes the paralysis. There can be several causes for the inflammation. I am currently taking a course of anti-virals and steroids prescribed by the ER doc. I have an acupuncture appointment next week. I am also a Reiki practitioner and will give myself treatments.

They say it can take from 2 weeks to six months to recover. My mother died last month and I can tell you that crying out of one side of your face is an experience I would wish no one.
