Belly Button ouzing

Hi ladies,

I hope you’re all having a lovely weekend- I absolutely know I need to go see my GP but just wondered if this had happened to anyone else.

I had my laparoscopy to remove a haemoragic cyst on my right ovary on the 24th August and since then I can feel a hard lump just under the skin near my belly button which is painful I’m struggling finding comfortable clothing as if anything rubs on it it’s very sore - then all of a sudden it’s ouzing what I can only describe as a yellow liquid/puss ?? I’m very clean I bath/shower twice a day so it’s not because I’m unhygienic?? Can anybody shed any light on what this may be I hate waste if Doctors time so if anybody has a thought on whatvit could possibly be I’d be so grateful thank you in advance xx

Hi Amanda, when you have a laparoscopy, as you probably know, one of the instruments is inserted through your belly button. The lump you can still feel is where the muscle was cut and stitched.

The oozing could be a slight infection in the wound. Try bathing with boiled water with a bit of tcp in it, and if it doesn’t clear up in a few days, go and see your GP. You might need some antibiotics.

In the meantime, don’t have baths and put a waterproof plaster over it in the shower. Try to keep it as dry as you can.

Thank you for replying Laura, thanks for reminding me to keep it dry (totally forgot than one)! Bless you x

Hi! It sounds like you have an infection for sure. If it were me, I would not wait I would go directly to emerge to get it looked at. They told me if I saw anything like that to come right back asap. It could cause more problems if you don't get it right away.

    Good luck

    Hello,

I had this happen also. While I still recommend following up with your Dr, I was told that it was a sterile abscess. It did heal within a few days with no treatment, so hopefully yours is better soon!
