My doctor has had me taking benadryl for two months now...does anyone else take it everyday? I'm trying to figure out exactly what it would be doing for me.

Does it make you feel any better

Well its hard to tell because I'm taking Valium and the histamine phosphate drops under the tongue. I'm just questioning it because in two months I have gained about 5 pounds. My eating hasn't really changed much and I have started being more active but my weight has continued to increase. I got to researching everything I take and found where taking dipenhydramine consistently can cause weight gain.

I have been taking Betahistine(prescribed by my Dr) which is a  similar product for around 2 months now and it seems to be helping.

If you've put on so much weight in such a short time I would suggest you get your thyroid checked. I did and it's underactive. Am now taking Thyroxine, but at very low level. Don't know if it's helping yet, awaiting blood results.

      Best wishes

I did Pauline...only about a month ago and everything was fine. Do you happen to take benadryl daily?

hi jinamarie, benadryl? not heard of that but sounds very much like a cough syrup, cant imagine what good that would do for you unless you had a cold but hey, 9 months ago I had hever heard of menieres or tinnitus let alone most of the stuff im now taking on a daily basis! if you dont think its working, goolge is my best friend these days and helps me out when the doctors dont!! all the best.

I have asked my ENT specialist about Benadryl and he can't imagine why this has been prescribed. It is a cough syrup. Are you a member of the Meniere's Association in the UK? There is a lot in data available that is very interesting. I am on Serc and also Lyrica for another complaint but have found that it is very helpful for the migraine's that I get with Meniere's. It stops the pressure building up and the dreadful eye pain. None of these medications stop the Drop Attacks unfortunately.  Just as well I have gained weight taking all this rubbish as I fell two weeks ago and landed on my padding rather than breaking a hip! Since I started taking medication 3 years ago I have gained 10 kilos, I can enter in the Fat Lady competition at the county fair soon!!!

    Cheers Lulu
