    HI,

ESA Income Related is an ongoing award and will never stop unless you're found fit for work. Not being reviewed for 5 years means you've been very lucky, don't knock it. Any time scales they give you is just a guide and nothing more, they can re-assess you anytime from 3 months. To be honest, you'll never know when that ESA50 form will come through the door and when it does it will be a surprise because it's a white envelope not brown, so always takes me by surprise.

When attending appointments Consultants usually write to your GP, i'd advise you to ask to be CC'd into the letter, this way you'll always receive a copy. Keep what you receive in a file, it's always handy for things like this.

Letters from a GP aren't the best evidence to send because a GP will very rarely know how your conditions affect you. Most GP's also charge for any letters they write and in my opinion it's a waste of money. Hope this helps.

Hi Denise , when you say can re-assess anytime after 3 months, do you mean that they can re-assess you 3 months after awarding you?

I thought when they give you like a 1yr award for example you dont get reassesed until around that time so either when it has been 1yr , a few months like 2 months before or later.

      Hi Sarah,

Yes, that's exactly what i mean. The ESA decision letters never ever state any timescales because ESA is an ongoing award, unless you're found fit for work and then it stops.

If you ring DWP they'll give a timescale but it's nothing more than a guide. Some go over the time, some go under and others about the timescale they were advised.

The work capability assessment form arrives when you least expect it and this is the worst thing about it.
