BPPV is usually felt as ' full blown ' vertigo, I.e a feeling that the whole room is spinning violently. Enough to make you feel very nauseous. Your symptoms appear more in line with Labyrinthitis.

Not surprised your scared, the feeling of not being in control of your body is dreadful.
I was diagnosed with PBBV 22 years ago! It still affects my life in many ways but you learn to live with it and avoid the triggers, although sometimes it just takes a hold and you havent done anything to bring it on.
You may be one of the lucky ones and it wont last, there are many people who only suffer from this for a short while. If that's the case then you'll be fine and quite soon. But, be prepared if it doesnt go away your life will change.
What has kept me sane over the years, once I was told I hadnt got a brain tumour! is the fact that ok, it isnt pleasant but its not going to kill me.....you just have to learn to live with it, let it sweep over you, stay off your feet until you have a clear head again and you are able to function.
Let people know you have a balance problem so they are not thinking you are drunk or on drugs.....keep away from busy places where people can knock into you and lose your balance..
when sitting on a swizzle chair dont let people move the back of it because if you cant see that your going to be moved it will make you dizzy and lose your balance.
Try not to bend your head when you pick something up anything that involves moving your head up and down or side to side will affect you.
Other things that can 'start you off' putting on mascara because you use your forehead to apply it, reading, bacause of your eyes sweeping from one side to another, stiring gravy because you move a liquid in circles......I could go on and on but would make myself go dizzy!!!!
I am so sorry for anyone who has this problem, people dont seem to think that feeling dizzy is an issue! they need to experience it to understand.
Take care
