Hi everyone I am so allergic to patches they give me raised red itchy lumps and even after removal I am covered in bruises! I would love your opinions especially positive experiences with HRT hopefully without side effects. My GP seems clueless on HRT so it is left to me to do my research and advise her!
Thanks so much

Which brand did he give you? There's more than one. I'm allergic to glue myself, bandaids inclusive. However the estradot patches I was fine with. Maybe worth trying those? Or otherwise you could try the gel . It's still transdermal that way

Hi Manuela
thank you for replying I asked for that very thing after researching but she refused to do it as she hadn't done it before!

Personally, I haven't found an adhesive I'm not allergic to. Would you be willing to try something like Sandrena (aka Divigel). I've had a lot of success with it. Was originally on .5 mg a day, but by the evening I was starting to get hot flushes, nowadays I take 1mg in the morning and .5mg in the evening.
Tried 1mg straight up and felt terrible.. it was something that needed to be titrated up... it felt remarkably like morning sickness.. lowering the dose and titrating it up over a few weeks made all the difference. My body seems to function better on higher oestrogen levels though (my morning oestradiol tends to sit at ~750 pmol/l). If it goes to low I start getting dry eyes and a dry nose.
I find it way better than oral oestrogen . I've been on Premarin, Progynova and Zumenon. Thing is, finding the right HRT can take time and experimentation. I'd highly suggest giving something at least a month before making a decision and of course look at blood levels which take a couple weeks to stabilise when you make a change.
Sandrena has been a life saver for me, more emotionally stable, not as foggy (which seemed to be worse on orals), hot flushes and night sweats dramatically improved. I will say though that sometimes my face and only my face feels randomly hot. More noticeable in summer.. it's 37C right now though.

Don't take Premarin. Read about how cruel it is to the pregnant horses that produce it!!

Hi Annaflare
thank you for your reply. It is useful to hear other ladies' experiences, will have a read on your suggestions. Thank you for taking the time to explain. I am happy that your found something that works with you. I am guessing you maybe in the US.? Here in UK they don't tend to test levels for some unknown reason!
Wishing you the best x

Premarin was the first thing I was prescribed several years ago and I took it without question. That's why I stopped taking it. You'll notice I didn't specifically recommend Premarin, personally I prefer transdermal or buccal in the case of Zumenon. Not all women absorb transdermal oestrogen.

I just mentioned all the things I've tried and what worked best. Maybe people shouldn't just latch onto one single word... without comprehending the whole statement and initial question.

I'm actually in Australia . I've specifically asked my gp for the tests and she has never refused, I guess now that everything has stabilised we do yearly checks on things. Initially when changing hrt types, we've done the first month and then the third month.

Just trying to get the word out about how cruel it is to horses to make premarin, most people don't have a clue. I own horses so I can't imagine it even being legal to let animals suffer like this when there are many alternatives.

Oh right, it just didn't sound like UK! I think they only check us about every 6 months which doesn't seem right to me. I am like you prefer transdermal. I feel happy about trying estradot, but the prog bit scares me. I don't get on well with that. I was on Evorel Conti and they made me feel very miserable. I thought natural Utrogestan would be good till I read about the awful side effects. x

Hi Ezekiel, I agree that if there are alternatives then why not try them. It doesn't sound particularly healthy to have a product made from horse's urine anyway. Thanks for your comments

Yes I think you are right. it's all a bit of a mnefield it seems! I slept like a log on the Evorel which had a different progesterone to the fem 7 but the oral utrogestan has lots of reports of vertigo side effects even though it is the natural form!
Don't know what a troche is will look it up.
I could do with calming down at the best of times lol! Seem to alternate between really depressed in the mornings to wanting to murder ppl lol!
The Fem 7 have brought back my restless legs which is a nightmare, no sleep and the itching which I had got rid off. So they are off now and I see my doc on 29th... thanks so much for your advice xx
