Best monofocal IOL

Hi guys,
I'm a young man (25) facing unilateral cataract surgery (in Europe).
I need the best possible outcome in terms of acuity, absence of glare / halo, side effects.
What is the best IOL on the market now in your opinion?
My surgeon considers Alcon Aspheric (SA60WF) or Tecnis 1-piece ZCB00.
Lots of warinings about glistening in terms of Acrysof and positive/negative dysphotopsias when it comes to ZCB00.
I'll appreciate your help,
Adam

I selected the Tecnis for my right eye cataract surgery 6 months ago after my own research.
I didn't want the glistenings issue or blue filter (yellow tint) of the Alcon IOLs, so I went with a surgeon that specializes in the Tecnis IOLs. I got a tecnis toric monofocal due to the high astigmatism I have.
One issue you might experience due to your relatively young age is that your eye's pupil can still dilate to a size larger than the diameter of the IOL. This can in a dark environment produce a visible thin light ring around some bright light sources probably due to light reflections off the edge of the lens. When the pupil is smaller you don't see the ring at all in normal light conditions. As you age your pupil doesn't dilate as large so eventually its not visible even in a dark environment. In my case I rarely see the ring now since my pupil at my age is just getting so it doesn't get big enough.

Are you happy with your choice? (Acrysof vs. Tecnis)

I have Tecnis toric monofocals in both eyes. Operations were done in Jan and Feb this year.
The only vision issue I have noticed is a sort of shimmering vision in the centre of my right eye (which is set for close up at -2.25). My left eye (which is set for distance at 0) doesn't have the issue. It's almost like a small migrane aura, but it's not exactly the same.
I only notice it for a few minutes in the mornings when I go from a dark room to a light room and I only notice it when I look into the distance. Once my eye adjusts to the light, it goes away.
It's very hard to describe it and my surgeon wasn't able to identify what it was as I don't think he's ever had anyone mention it.
It's not a problem and it doesn't bother me - I just wish I had a name for it!

I've read people's experiences too with Alcon Acrysof having post-op glistenings. My doctor was/is very accommodating and said this is what he's used in all his patients and are very happy with it, but will accommodate my request for another brand/type. Alcon, Tecnis, Bausch+Lomb, they all are major players in this field and it could be that certain models of Acrysof have had glistening problems, but I can say with experience, that Acrysof by Alcon is very very good.
