Best place in London for balloon dilation for Achalasia

I am based in Abu Dhabi and have been diagnosed with Achalasia recently. The doctors here have not seen many cases and i want to find a doctor in the UK who could review my case and conduct the recommended dilation if indeed this is the best way forward. Can any one help?

I recommend Mr Majid Hashemi who practices at University College hospital.

You can see the notes from a meeting he held with achalasia patients on the Oesophageal Patient Association website under The oesophagus and then Achalasia.

It is important that your condition is diagnosed accurately and that the solution of having a dilatation is not undertaken before looking at the situation thoroughly.

I wish you well with getting your condition treated.

Hi, my husband also has Achalasia, he is currently under the care of Miss Frances Hughes at The Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel. He has had two balloon dilations that did not seem to improve his condition, then botox which was life changing and enabled him to enjoy a meal for the first time in 10 years. On the back of this, he has recently had a Heller Myotomy with fundoplication operation carried out by Miss Hughes on the NHS, which so far seems to have gone well and he has finally stopped losing weight. Good Luck!

    Assalamalaikum,

Hope this message finds you in good health.

I just did a google search and found that you have Achalasia and live in Abu Dhabi. It would be good to touch base  with you as so far you are the only other person with Achalasia that i have found in UAE.

Sending on behalf of my sister who has Achalasia since 2006, living in Abu Dhabi.
