Best relief for sandpaper-like chronic eye pain?

Posted , 2 users are following.

Hi. I've been suffering from intense, sandpaper-like eye pain for months, 24/7. The only time I don't feel it is when I sleep. The optometrist found nothing wrong, other than dry eye, so she prescribed omega-3 pills, hot compresses and lubricating eye drops, all of which do next to nothing to eliminate the pain.

I'm therefore wondering whether anyone out there has experienced similar pain and, if so, what alleviated it for them. A prescription like Restasis or Xiidra? Do scleral lenses work?

Thanks in advance for your much appreciated help.

Look, I once had this problem when sawdust fell into my eyes. However, the lubricating eye drops helped a lot in my case. Additionally, I kept rinsing the affected eye with a saline solution once a day for about 3 days.

If you are already using lubricating eye drops and all these other things you mentioned, you should look for another specialist. See if you can find an ophthalmologist to get a different opinion. Get well!
