Best time to take sertraline I work 3 nights a week

I've been prescribed 50mg of sertraline I'm not sure what time to take them as I work 3 twelve hour night shifts a week so I need to sleep during the day when I'm on nights. I wake up about 3 to 4pm so I was thinking of taking them then. Any thoughts on this

Hi
I don't think it matters what time you take your med so long as its the same time every day. So i would choose a time that you are always awake irrespective of your sleep pattern. If you are always up at 4pm I would take then. Good luck. I too work nights but have been off sick since nov. Will have to go back myself soon ..dreading it...ive got used to being off even though I've been ill.

Hi
Thanks for the reply ive been getting a bit anxious, I thought about 4pm in the afternoon and sticking to this when I'm on my days off. It's my first night shift of the week tonight, it will be my first tablet so I will take it at 4pm.
I hope you feel better soon & that your first night back in work is ok

Good luck and make sure you drink plenty of water. Most people seem to be affected by the sweaty side effect of sertraline. You may be ok. Side effects vary from person to person. Some people don't get any. If you have trouble sleeping ask your doctor for phenergan..its an ant histamine that will not make you drowsy when you get up.

I have been taking mine in the mornings. Trying to keep time within a 2 hour range same every day. I have been sleeping well at night. This has worked for me. Seems to give me a boost . sometimes tension for I'm still new on it so. I would pick a time of day and stick with it. Good luck! It's a tough ride. But fingers crossed!?

Thanks for that but my problem is that I work 3 twelve hour night shifts a week. I've had different opinions at work and now I'm all confused.

Unless people have worked nights themselves it is impossible for them to understand the impact it has on your sleep pattern and wellbeing. I have worked for 21 years on nights and therefore am no stranger to crazy sleep patterns. I still think you should take your sert at a time when you are always up irrespective of your sleep pattern.
Good luck.
