Hi everyone
I have been on setraline 50mg for 10 days now and I feel really anxious of going to work on Monday wondering if I will manage it and to make the day out. I have been given some beta blockers for when I'm really anxious but I am nervous to take one . Any advice would be good please x

Thanks Sarah
I haven't been off work since starting the setraline as it's a new role for me within the same company kind of a promotion so the stress and anxiety has taken its toll . I have felt nauseous and lethargic since I started them but I felt that way before hand tbh so was wondering if I tried a beta blocker it might take the symptoms away xx

If you have been given medications too take, follow your GP instructions. He has given you tablets to make you feel calm at work and with others, stop worrying and do what your GP has advised.
The Setraline needs longer to work, four or five weeks, so be patient
Good Luck Monday

The side effects for Beta blockers do cover the side effects you discuss above so you will need to give them time to work. Try not throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Give each medication time to work because different named drugs of the same group do the same and the actual number of medications in various groups is not as large as you think, and you GP may run out of options given time

Both drugs have a list of contraindications, many are linked and are the same. So you need to take both medications together as agreed with your GP. Give both around one month and discuss both then with your GP, He will make a decision then what He wants to do. He may increase the AD medication at this time

As far as I’m aware beta blockers just slow down your heart rate - they don’t stop nausea. 🙁

I’m curious to see how you go as i’m in the same boat as you. Wishing you the best of luck going to work. I’m going back to work tomorrow after having Thursday and Friday off due to bad side effects and feeling very anxious and scared to wake up with horrible anxiety. I took my first propanolol today and still felt waves of anxiety but they were bearable, so i’m not sure if it was the propanolol or sertraline helping.

Hi Chev
I have felt awful all weekend so I am going to take a beta blocker shortly and see how it goes. I'm feeling more anxious as I have just started a new role and they are already short staffed so really need to go tomorrow. Hopefully the beta blockers will work quick will keep you posted.

I took a beta blocker and I had another panic attack within 30 mins so I slept it off then went for a walk but had to push myself out the door . I don't seem as anxious now altho I'm dreading waking up to go to work . How are you ?

Hi pal didn't sleep a wink last night and think it was the beta blocker that caused it . I pushed myself out of bed and went to work but was a slog . Managed to force some food down then took my 50mg pill at 10ish. My shoulders and back ache really bad today and feel stuffed up . Hoping to sleep better tonight . You are not alone mate keep talking
