BEWARE DTRANS DURAGESIC PATCHES

Posted , 4 users are following.

I was on these patches for 7 months for chronic back pain gp decided to stop patches without a wean off period (due to side effects)I did question this but was informed I would be fine and may have very slight withdrawl symptoms.

I ended up going into total withdrawl and being admitted to hospital and prescribed morphine, I was terrified and now two weeks later I am still suffering from weakness unexplained anxiety and feel really un-well !

On top of all this I am now scared stiff of all pain killers and am in constant pain just about managing on co-codamol an diclofenic.

PLEASE BE CAREFUL AND WEAN OFF SLOWLY

Fentanyl (DUROGESIC dTrans and various other trade names) shoul not be prescribed for chronic pain conditions!  You WILL DEVELOP TOLERANCE and then your troubles will really begin.  I talk as a patient and a doctor who was lured, probably also by my desperate situation. I had an Autoimmune Sensory Neuropathy. I had to retire early as my life was in a mess and I could not function in my job. Now having got up to 100mcgm patches and the very slowly reduced to 75mcgm. I am now told I must come off them as I have been on them too long.  I cannot be offered any constructive alternative. Only Lidocaine (local anaesthetic) intravenous infusions. I know they are risky and the effects will wear off, but I am in a trap.

Why can I not be offered Sativex as a trial?  (Cannaboids - marijuana) there are many good trials that show they can work for Neuropathic Pain!  BUT the NHS says no!  If I get it in any other way I will be a criminal.
