Big spots and lasting a long time

Hi everyone,

I just made an account to post on here to see if anyone had a similar case. I was diagnosed (via scrape & biopsy) with PR 8 or so weeks ago. The first sign was a really big herald patch on my back that I thought was a huge ringworm. I also had a smaller "ring worm" looking patch forming on my shin so decided to go to the doctor so they could confirm it was ring worm and give me a strong anti-fungal cream. He immediately told me it was not ring worm as it wasn't itchy or scaly/dry so we did some tests. Basically it's been 8 weeks and I'm still getting new spots to this day. I don't really have a "rash" as such, it's more like just patches. I have a fair few patches but not as bad as some photos I've seen, it's quite spread out over my body but the patches I get are BIG. They aren't the tiny little red ones all over. They actually spread wider/grow as time goes on.

Has anyone had this happen? What can I expect?

Not much has changed and it's a little concerning that I am still getting new spots 8 weeks after my herald patch appeared 😦

OMG!!!!! Yours sounds like mine did!!!!! Mine were rings that just kept on spreading, like big ringworms!!!! You are one of the "extremely few" who may have something called pityriasis rosea gigantea!!!!!

Never fear, it will go away after a while, or, if you don't want to wait, buy some Prreze. That is what worked for mine. Mine also was scrape biopsied at month 9... AT month 14 I found Prreze and it was gone in a week.

Hi Stazstaz, thanks for replying! I didn't realise that was even a thing but I think you're right. Mine are definitely bigger than normal PR spots and I have less of them. My herald patch is really big compared to photos I've seen of others. Maybe I'll order some Prreze, it's worth trying anything at this point. I thought it would be clearing up by now 😦

You've made me so happy. I have HUGE patches, I'm 55, and I've just started month 4 of this wretched condition. I have tried everything with little success.

I'm happy that others have similar, dis-similar symptoms. I've been so itchy and tired--I have to take a nap after work almost every day.

I will definitely try Prreze and hopefully be rid of these leopard spots for good.
