Big Toe stiff , I can feel the staple when bending

Hi All.

Hoping for some comfort , had bunion op 3 weeks ago today surgeon put staple on the bone on big toe to straighten , feels ok been told  to do little excercise but my god the big toe is stiff and I feel the staples stopping / making it harder ....am I panicking out of nothing as still early days of recovery .. don’t want to disturb the surgeon or his receptionist I’m sure they have 101 things going on. Thanks in advance for any replies.

    You mean you went for your follow up after a bunion surgery and then he put in a staple?  Did you know that was going to happen?  Where is the staple?  

    Did they open up again to do it?  Did you have an xray?

      No the staple was done during surgery I knew he was putting it in every time I bend my big toe I can feel it at the joint . Had X-ray last week and they said it was healing well , bandages off stitches snipped time to moisturise and excercise the joint.

    Hi Sharon it’s very early days.  You get sensations that are strange but settle down.  I thought I had a bit of bone moving in my toe about but it was my nerves settling down. I’ve just had my second bunion and toe fusion done - a year apart.  It is so worth it but take it easy and don’t worry too much.   As I was reminded last time this Is major surgery and should treated as that.

      Aww thank you Jane. Feeling so much better since the first week, now it’s the case of getting back to reality as can be just don’t want to disturb the surgery that’s been done. Foots looking a lot healthier and pretty smile  toes bending lot better now just the staple being there. Thank you for your reply  x

    I was done 28/4/17 and I had screws,he told me they could come out after 10 weeks but thought,all until September then my foot started to get exstreamly Hot i put up with it till early December and went back he booked me in and I had them out 20/2/18 only burning a bit so I rang recieption and was told it won’t last I get stitches out on 6/3/18 but I’m ringing them tomorrow see if I can have them out a bit earlier .Yes it is still early for you but I would ring him anyway
