I'm only 8 months post TKR and my operated knee is, I'd say, 10-20% bigger than the other. I don't appear to have any swelling. The thigh is not as big as the othe, but I'm still building up my muscles.
Good Luck, Jim

I'm really glad you've asked this question as I have been wondering about it. I am only 10 weeks post op so I suppose swelling is expected but my knee looks to be a different shape - when I bend my knee my operated knee is much more rounded than my other one and i can't see how this will change?

Hello, I am 12 weeks TKR and my knee has a very rounded shape and is bigger than the other leg. I am going to see my surgeon again next week and I am going to ask about it. It has also made bending my knee difficult. I will post my surgeons response.

I am 8 months and my knee is much larger to the point that people mention it. ive had both knee done 11 years apart. My knee was larger prior to surgery. There seems to be more fatty tissue around this knee and swelling under.

I have noticed the same thing. My knees were not like that before surgery but because I had both knees done at the same time, everyone assumes that how my knees always were. Since I was measuring before and after surgery, there is at least 1 inch difference in size post surgery

hello it's been 2 years for me as well and yes the knee I had surgery is slightly bigger you must remember the hard ware you have is a little larger the than your regular bones and heavier. I am very happy with the out come from my surgery in 2017. I am pain free and walking it out a cane but we all we have our good days and bad it's replacement not the original Good luck

Was told today in young Drs exams that a new knee is normally a better shape than the other.

I am 6 weeks post op on my left knee and it is larger than my right. Not only that but now my left leg is 1/2" longer than my right leg and is causing horrible back pains. Going to talk with the surgeon today.

Hello, I am 12 weeks post op my knee is larger and my leg is 12mm longer than the other. I was having bad back pains. My surgeon referred me for an orthotic, I now have a 12mm shoe heel lift that fits inside my shoe that evens me up. Back pain has gone.
