Bilateral bed rest.

I had both feet operated on 4 days ago and was advised to stay in bed with my feet elevated for the first week. I am trying, but I think I'm developing bed sores. It's tricky to change position and keep a degree of elevation - has anyone experienced this? I'd be really grateful for any feedback / advice. Many thanks. Liz.

    Hi

I had both feet done nearly two days ago.  I was told to keep my feet elevated but not that I had to stay in bed.  I was comfy laying on the sofa with three large pillows uonder my knees elevating my feet right up.  I also found that sitting and even standing for short periods (a couple of minutes an hour) was helpful.  Ice bags every hour also made a real difference.  At night i took two mild over the counter sleeping pills and this got me through a good few hours at night before I needed more ice.  Hope that helps.

Thank you. I moved downstairs onto the sofa and things have improved. I'm not in any pain and I don't seem to have sores. My feet are elevated, so it's just a case of sticking the next week out (had surgery 9days ago). I do walk about , so everything is going well. Here's to being up on my feet normally - hopefully, not too much longer........ Thanks again and take care.
