Bilateral open inguinal 5 months after surgery pain

In the past 3 weeks I have been having pain on both sides of my hernia repair with mesh. Although the pain isn't constant it niggles sharp pain, heavy feeling it reminds me it's there. I have gone to doctor he prodded and we done the cough test standing up and lying down. He said site feels good no lumps and scar is healing well my question is is it nerve regenerating or muscle or another hernia I have been icing and taking it really easy prior to that I could run exercise etc any answers much appreciated can recovery being going well then take a turn numbness has worn off
