Hi
i had a left hip replacement in January and still have mobility problems.
i am 56 and since surgery can't do as much as I use to.
one of my biggest problems is I can't bend Down far before I get pain and almost get stuck.
I have had to go back to work as I am divorced and on my own with 4 cats and a dog. So the lower parts of house constantly need cleaning and so I have to get down on my knees with difficulties and crawl around which hurt my knees and getting back up I have to have something solid to pull myself up.
i am a nurse in out patients and finding as the week goes on it hurt more and more so by end of day. And weekends want to sit and do nothing.
can any one advise /help. Please

Still today I still have difficulty but have learned how to move without aggravating the leg muscles foot and knee. One day at a time.,no bending for a week. Let urself just test. UR body just went thru major surgery and deserves a bit of a break. Still do the bed exercises don't want to get stiff. It's just realizing it's ok t take a few days off ...

The bending down you describe hurts me also and I too need to use something solid to pull myself back up. I am divorced and raising my three preteen granddaughters, so I make them help me with what I cannot do. Thank God I have their help even if they would rather play! I have had to let a great many things house work wise go which bothers me, but I think in the long run it is worth not overdoing it.
Wishing you better times ahead!

I'm at the point I could walk the dog around the backyard (he is too old to take for walks) but I can't bend to clean up after him and also he has bathroom issues which make a longer poop and scoop not really helpfull (only a fellow dog owner whose dog is elderly and has issues can appreciate what i'm saying)...in any event, the reacher is definately a BIG help so far for me. (i'm 6l and only 5 foot tall so at the best of time I have trouble getting things high up!!!)...I'm a little behind most people on this forum so I'm also getting lots of good advice from them!!!!
I'm also doing physio twice a week and I think that makes the world of difference to my recovery, and lucky fo rme I have coverage so even after the doctor says I don't need it anymore I will continue until I feel I don't need it....stay strong and check in to this forum for support!

I do a set of exercises before I get out of bed and when I go to sleep at night...often do my exercises during the day too. I use a little heat for 5 minutes or so before I get out of bed too.....this gets blood flowing I figure in lower back.
My little apt has been neglected and I keep threatening to hire someone to come in and clean again....I keep up but the harder work, forget it.
I'm 76 and no pets but 3 wonderful house plants I fed and water...can't imagine a pet needing me. I had the anterior and there is more freedom in movement for most but then I deal with lots of OA bodywide. and Fibro issues. My life is not greater...keep on top of Vit D.
I take collagen supps too, I'm a big supplement person.

I can bend and still touch my toes, but lower back is riddled with OA, so I do this with burning pain, but I can do it
I agree with a lot of things you say but not that.....I believe in listening to my body. Lots of exercises yes especially first thing in the morning. Also the heat before you get up thats good.
Not pushing your body until it is burning pain just to say you can do it.
Do exercises gradually and often and you'll gradually get better and be able to bend further without pain.
I've alsways been told to listen to my body and I do believe in that
