Bile acid malabsorption

Has anyone been told they have ibs but it turns out it is bile acid malabsorption? Done quite a lot of research about it and apparently it is similar to ibs but easy to know with a trial of medication. I've done everything to help reduce this diarrhoea and nothing is helping. I am seeing my specialist a week today so will ask more about it then but just wondering if anyone's knows much more?

Ask yourc doctor for a SECHAT scan which picks up BAM. If you have it, you will be put on medication to control the diarrhoea.

Just out of curiosity when you say diarrea are you talking about wTery diarrea or just soft stools? I've had soft not large stools after a bacteria infection 7i months ago nothing really seems to work but bland chicken or fish pumpkin and potatoes helps a bit. The gastro doctor spoke about normafibre to bulk up stools.

    Goodluck

ditto Pippa's reply. i had this condition (bam for short) diagnosed several years ago & am on colestyramine sachets daily for it which largely control the symptoms of daily diarrea, abdo pain, rectal soreness & noisy gurgling in tummy. x
