Bile Salt Mal Absorption

I have recently been diagnosed with bile salt mal absorption and I still have my gall bladder! I had to have an implant - sacral nerve implant - about 11 years ago to due severe bowel problems and now I have this to go alongside it. I am also getting awful pains in my right hand side - where my gall bladder/liver are. Waiting for scans to see what is going on. Was given tablets to take - 6 of them each night and they have made me ill, causing a lot more problems. I have now reduced them to 3 a night and hopefully this will work. Scared to do anything after eating a meal as I have been going to the loo up to 20 times a day and unfortunately my implant machine cannot cope with this.

I feel for you bro ,you have been through a lot more than normal person goes through in his lifetime. Don't wait too long I waited over 5 years which resulted in bile duct cancer which spread to my liver . I did all the test and scans and it came up negative and I told them to remove it because I was in too much pain for over 5 years on and off by then it was too late and I have cancer

Well I got my appointment through yesterday for my scans and, true to their word, it is before Christmas. 21st December. I had to stop my pills for a few days as they were causing me too much grief. But now, unfortunately, my bile salt mal absorption has returned, which they said would happen if I didn't take the tablets. Lets hope the scans show what is wrong and get it sorted.

Pain is getting worse now and has been with me constantly for over 2 days. Bile salt problem has worsened but I know it's because I am not taking the pills they gave me. reason being is that they made me feel a lot worse! I have my scans next Thursday so hopefully they will show what else is going on.

Had my scans today and still no results. Good news is I haven't got gall stones. Bad news is I have to have more tests to see if it is anything nasty! Pain still with me and I'm struggling.
