Bilirubin

Hi; I am very worried . I had a blood test that came back high bilirubin levels. Doctor thinks it maybe gallstones. I don't think so, I had not much pain. Just a tiny bit when I stomach is upset which it is now with stress. She wants me to go for another blood test to confirm. Has anyone heard of false positive with bilirubin??? I had nausea a lot. Not to point of vomiting but just feeling blah with a strange taste in my mouth. Has anyone had this with liver problems. I am scared to death of liver cancer or pancreas cancer.

Thank you

Jerome

I think you're probably worrying unnecessarily re cancer. High billirubin is generally viewed as no problem including by docs. Personally I think it's best to get down to acceptable levels.

Mine was very high (~70 in UK units) a couple of years ago and the doc did nothing other than diagnose Gilbert's syndrome which I think is a cop out. Somehow I've gradually reduced it to ~24 which is marginally over range - not sure how except with AIP diet and liver supplements.

I look forward to it being in range at under 20 so I can ask doc what happened to Gilbert!
