Binocular Diplopia

For just over a year I have suffered with binocular diplopia (horizontal) only at a distance (my vision is fine for anything close-up, reading etc) it has gradually got worse at first I had it several times a week but now it's pretty much all the time.

I went to my optician last year who advise it was probably because I was wearing the wrong prescription (I wear glasses and contact lenses) so I tried the new prescription for 6 months it didn't improve so I went back and they then advise me to see an opthamologist.

I went to see the opthamologist last week who done several tests then referred me to get an MRI scan, I was in and out in ten minutes and he said my eyes are fine, I don't have a squint etc.

Now I'm extremely worried it's a brain tumour, has anyone else suffered with this?
