How much Mg are you taking?

are you taking it morning or night?

can you go to a lower dose patch?

    Good Luck

    Thanks Joan

Some people say Mg should be taken in the morning.   Of course I.m not suggesting you change if its working.

I took a bigger dose of Magnesium (800mg I think) at night and it I had two really bad RLS nights. At the moment I am not taking any medication - just sticking to the diet -  and I have had about 10 nights with no symptoms up to a few days ago when it returned after meal at a snazzy restuarant.  Maybe there was garlic or something in the sauce?   The symptoms were present and woke me but I was back asleep in half an hour.   I am taking iron,.and fish oil in the mornings.   I have dropped all my magnesium and I want to see if the RLS returns.    After a week of no symptoms I will hit the old magnesium again and see what happens.  I dread doing it in case it ruins a weeks sleep but its worth trying.

Glad to hear that things are working for you

    Cheers

      Hi

It doesn't say when to take it, something I have been thinking about, may try ringing them. Is it Bio Magnesium you have had? This magnesium contains 200mgm of magnesium in three bio-available forms: acetate, hydroxide and carbonate, dissolves quickly in the stomach. Made by Danish co. Pharma Nord, not sure if you can get it from chemist, I got mine online, next day delivery and free P @ P. You sound really good. Doctor now wants me on 1mgm patch not looking forward to that starting tonight, but will try it.

      Hope you continue feeling good

      Hi Joan

The magnesium I take is not bio from Pharma-Nord

This is 500mg of magnesium diglycinate which is equivalent to 50mg of elemental magnesium per tablet.   PLus 750mg of magnesium amino acid chelate, equivalent to 150mg of elemental magnesium.

The manufacture'r recomendation for cramps is one tablet three times per day.  I have been taking one tablet per day and I am just experimenting to see if it was doing any good.

I will try to get the Pharma Nord product in Australia or online

Interesting to read that you had RLS symptoms after a restaurant meal. I have noticed in the past that my husband, a sufferer, used to have bad attacks after restaurant meals and I used to wonder whether it was something used in the cooking of the meal which was the cause. I used to think perhaps it was too much salt or something like monosodium glutamate that could have been the culprit. As he has attacks so often I forgot about the restaurant meals but I do remember thinking that the attacks were worse after a meal out. Sorry to hear you had two bad nights after increasing your Magnesium. We have ordered some Bio Magnesium after reading about it on this forum. I thought it might be the answer to our prayers since my husband has had a very bad reaction recently to Rotigotine patches. RLS, I find is such a complicated syndrome which does not seem to follow the same pattern for every sufferer and the same medication doesn't work for everyone. It's a big mystery. Good luck with your Magnesium experiment. I think you're very brave doing it knowing it could ruin your sleep, which is so precious. It would be good to get some feedback after your experiment. Thanks.

    Hi

I have been wondering about magnesium. Did you know you were short of it or was it a bit of trial and error? I am om Clonazepam which knoocks me out but I do wake up listless and with very painful legs

      Hi

Was recommended by a friend trial and error, but rls so bad had to try it. Worth a try. I got 60 pack for about £6. Bio Magnesium by Pharma Nord contains acetate, hydroxide and carbonate and dissolves quickly in the stomach

Hi. Are you taking Rotigotine patches as well as the Bio Magnesium? How long have you been using the patches I wonder? Could it be the patches that are helping your RLS and not the Bio Magnesium? We have ordered some Bio Magnesium after reading about them on this forum, since my husband had a very bad reaction to Rotigotine patches. They worked very well on his legs but not on his mind! I'm really hoping and praying that the Bio Magnesium will work for him. It's so annoying, I find, that relief for RLS is such a hit and miss. My husband seems to do better on Codeine Phosphate, prescribed by the GP, than on anything else but, of course, this might not work for everyone. Hope you are still having calmer periods from the RLS. I feel sorry for everyone who suffers from this awful debilitating syndrome.

      Hi

Am taking 1mgm patches as well as bio magnesium, but was still suffering from RLS before I tried this Bio Magnesium. Last night I attended a Musical and sat for three hours a thing I haven't been able to do for over 4 years, with no problems!!! this might not work for everyone who suffers from this awful condition, but worth a try.

That is fantastic. We're always in awe of going to a concert in case my husband's RLS starts to play up during a performance. I think it could get us banned from attending! I do hope that this good spell continues for you. My husband has now got a supply of Bio Magnesium & he's taken 2 tonight for the first time. I hope they will work for him too. Thanks for sharing this.

Hi. You ask if my husband was prescribed 2. Did you mean the Bio Magnesium or the Rotigotine patches? He wasn't prescribed the Bio Magnesium tablets. We decided to buy some after reading how well you seem to be doing on them. He had to come off the Rotigotine patches because of the awful side effects which has taken about 5 weeks to clear out of his system. We've had a horrendous time with that. Previous to that he was on Pramipexole and he didn't fare very well on that either - it made him very confused so it looks like he can't tolerate that kind of medication. I'm interested in finding out about the diet for IBS mentioned in this forum. I think I'll look into that next. I'll let you know how we get on. We'll have to give it some time though. Hope you are still doing well.

Hi. I meant 2 Bio Magnesium tablets. I sympathise with your husband, coming off any of these drugs are very hard. The only thing that seems to work for me are the patches plus the Bio magnesium. which I have upped to 2 after my evening meal, done this as my Doctor wants me to stay on 1 mgm patch, I really feel to up this 2 mgm. Would be very interested to know how your husband is doing
