    Hi Marion

Generally gynocologists can diagnose on presentation and if you are using steroid cream the chances of a positive biopsy are neglible. Try not to worry. They will only do a biopsy if they deem it necessary. Regards. Jan x

I never had a biopsy and have been glad I didn't. He diagnosed me visually and I responded to a steroid and he was content with that.

I see an oncology gynocologist and she says that it is very rare for LS to really have cancer.  I would suggest you try to get an appointment with a gyn that specializes in oncology.

I agree with power woman.  I see an oncology gynocologist who says if it looks questionable a biopsy will be done.

My gynae took one look and diagnosed LS. Why would I want to upset my skin with a biopsy? No way.

If only I knew what I know now.

I feel the same as you, .......but, at the time I went to the doctor I was in such a state, sore, raw and ulcerated and panicking and I would have agreed to just about anything at the time. She did a biopsy, it was not a happy occasion, nor was the healing. (I'll say no more about that ... most peeps have no trouble at all I believe )

Anyway, in the end it was a useless exercise as she didn't know what it was, it came back as LS, which turned out it wasn't , it was LP.

It took a dermatologist to recognise it on instant sight.

But at the time.. when you're desperate and clueless, you do have to trust someone and you just want rid of it quick!

i remember I was showering every time I peed, didn't know about soothing lotions, dried and cracked the whole area with washing constantly with shower nozzle. OUCH.

I  agree to a point.  I trust my Doctors and if they thought it was not just LS I would agree to a biopsy but only if recommended by a Doctor.

Hi Marion try this simple excercise everytime you go to the toilet. After urinating or otherwise.Take a flat cotton makeup pad soaked in clean water and wash away the urine then wipe surlace water with a dry one.Use coconut oil which is cheap and sold at any chemist. The coconut oil just once a day. After having a poo, wash the back side again as well as the front passage and pat dry. If this is done daily the condition should improve. I find if you dont forget it will improve. We tend to miss once things are a lot better but you musn,t relax this wont just go away but we can control it good luck Marion,

      Hi Marion

Please beware of washing with water after urinating.  I did this and found i made me a whole lot worse.  It washes away the good bacteria.  It is important to wash with specialist soap substitute after going to toilet properly, but I got so bad with washing after urinating that it wasn't until I stopped this that the good bacteria returned.  Please bear this in mind.  What works for one person, doesn't necessarily mean it will work for you.
