Biopsy recovery

Hi I've just had biopsy done for burning raw and stinging in vulva, getting checked for lichen sclerosus and vulvodynia . 3 lots of stitches to area. How long do stitches take to dissolve? Any other advice would greatly be appreciated as I've been suffering since December.

I had a similar biopsy last year and, in spite being told the area would heal in 14 days, it really was more like 2 months till I was painfree and comfortable. Plenty of showers, wash with plain water, no soaps. Be kind to yourself, try not to stress. I had a good biopsy report - turned out it was a form of excema. Has responded well to occasional application of steroid cream, reduction in intake of sugar. Hope that helps.

pure natural unperfumed Emu Oil was my saviour. I had this for eight years before diagnosis some years ago...no one had ever heard of it then in our neck of the woods. The clobetasol was a life saver when I eventually got it and the specialist also gave me some tubes of Lidocaine which unfortunately are no longer available....they were brilliant.

Is emu oil the same as emuaid? I've got dermovate but can't say it has helped so far. I have had some relief from evening oil of primrose applied to area, but feel as it's just masking it.

My doctor prescribes me tubes of Lidocaine. It can be a lifesaver at times. It numbs your skin and relieves the itch for awhile!

    Hi,

How are you feeling now? I had my biopsy done on the 3rd march, have got a total of 4 stitches, the doctor said the stiches would start to dissolve in around 2 weeks, they are checking for LS but I have to wait until the end of May for the results. Has the doctor given you a steroid cream to use once you have healed? I have been given Dermovate to start using next week, i'm not really in any pain now just swollen, bruised and uncomfortable, have been having salt baths which help. But the area where the stitches are is starting to itch. I guess its healing. :-)

Forgot to mention am 38 and have been suffering for the last 10 years+ it was picked up when I was referred to a gynacologist for a laparoscopy

Look forward to hearing from you :-)

Hi, I'm feeling very nauseous but think that's a bug I've picked up too! Two stitches still there and I'm still a bit sore n bruised. Just as you say a wee bit of itching has started around sight. I am 51 and just going through menopause. Never had any issues before apart from the odd urine infection! Have been using bicarbonate sitz baths twice a day. Haven't used any steroid yet due to discomfort. Hoping results are 2 weeks so I know what I'm treating.

Hi, Not nice feeling nauseous as well, hope that passes soon. That's good that you get to hear back in 2 weeks, my doctor said they are very slow in getting results back and that it would be at least 8 weeks! I already had a follow up appt booked for the 26th May so they have left it at that. But I do think it's a little weird they want me to start using the steroid cream without knowing for sure it's LS. Have you looked into getting some Emu oil? I got some a few months back from Amazon, and it is very soothing, so may help you :-)

I bought emuaid ointment , is this the same stuff? Have you tried coconut oil?

Have just checked and no it's not the same thing Emuaid contains Argentum Metallicum (colloidal silver) Emu Oil

oops sorry pushed the wrong button LOL Emu oil is just emu oil. Does the Emuaid help? I haven't tried coconut oil yet but i have read that it can be beneficial, I do wonder if it would be too perfumed for me??

Can't say I've found it any good, evening oil of primrose straight from capsules has given some relief and emulsifying ointment . Will look into emu oil.

The best pure Emu oil comes from Australia. No additives at all apart frm some vitamin E preservative. It comes in small bottles or capsuls. It is one of the best anti inflammatory oils and penetrates very quickly. Very similar to coconut oil but food grade is best as too much fancy stuff added otherwise. That makes it irritant.

i also tried some French Green Clay poultice and my sister sent some Rotarua mud packs which were also very soothing. Yes I was that desperate!!

Try Manuka Honey after soaking in warm water and epsom salts or bicarb. Messy, but it does help healing. Don't use dermovate near the area until its fully healed
