Don't panic! I just had mine several weeks ago. I was worried about the process. 1) you will get a shot of lidocaine (I think) to numb the area. This feels about equivalent to a pap smear brush that goes on a little too long. I'm a baby and it wasn't too bad. 2) Then they do a "punch biopsy" which you pretty much don't feel because of the lidocaine.3) Then they put a little antibiotic and something to stop the bleeding etc. The numbing lasts 2 or 3 hours. Just take it easy for the day because you'll have a little bit of bleeding . Then, gentle with it for a few days. I actually went to lunch afterwards, then did a bit of shopping before going home.

Not near as bad as you're imagining.

My diagnosis was sort of anti-climactic...I could tell it was what I had, but I apparently only have a spot or 2 right now. My doc said that the name of the game is to keep it from getting bad. You will probably get a prescription for some sort of steriod ointment to knock down any outbreak. I did the steroid after he first suspected. It knocked it down and I could sleep again. Haven't had to use it since (over 3 mos). I put vaseline in the morning, then switch to either coconut oil or aloe vera gel (do not buy one with alcohol in it!!)

Read through these posts with a focus on oils and creams to keep the area not only moist, but keep a barrier from urine and perspiration (I, personally, think sweat is as bad or worse than urine for me.) Also, look at the advice about foods and diets. It seems pretty clear that sugar, white flour, all that kind of thing can be triggers.

My biopsy wasnt to bad, but I waited outside in the heat, I live in a hot country and that was a mistake as I got sweaty and it caused a small infection which was treated and even that wasnt to bad compared to what Ive been through with my LS before.

As the ladies above have said its great to get confirmation that it is LS and get the correct treatment, goodluck
