Bipolar 2

Hi. Could anyone suffering from bipolar 2 give me a typical example of your daily health when an episode arises. I'm thinking I may have it but I don't seem to get mania. How do you feel, think and function? What's your thought process when it hits? Many thanks, Chris.

You dont get mania with type 2, hypomania instead.  if you dont have mania or hypomania (and youd know if you did), then you pretty much dont have bipolar.  if you have depression or anxiety then its probably that thats troubling you. best to see a dr who will refer you to a therapist if its considered likely, but best to not research too much before that, if you goto a dr with predefined ideas of what you think you have, they tend to them be less likely to give you a realistic diagnosis and will probably send you away with a flea in your ear. see a dr and just be honest about whats troubling you and take it  from there

Hi. Thank you for your reply. That's pretty good advice I'd say. I sometimes get traits of bipolar but not the manic sides of it hence why I thought bipolar 2. But if you're saying I'd get some sort of mania no matter what strain I had then maybe you're right. I don't have it. I don't really know what a mania is. I get elevated moods but that's me just thinking I'm getting better. It's so complicated!! I've just joined a new docs and I'm requesting specialist help.

Bipolar without a form of mania is regular depression and/or anxiety, no less debilitating at times. Elevated moods can be when depression is lessening. Always discuss with a doc though, most have no idea about mental health so always a good idea to ask for referral to a proper therapist
