Bipolar and medication

Hi

Having been diagnosed recently i am feeling some relief that at last i no what has been wrong with me for many years!!

It is all about getting the meds right now and i was first put on Quetiapine which apart from major sweats at night really did help however after an ecg my doctor decided she wouldnt increase my dose. Was devastated as i saw light at the end of the tunnel for first time in years!!

I am now on Aripiprazol and tommorow night i add in Trazodone. I would love to hear from other people who may be in the same boat or have just had some experiences with these tablets

.

Many thanks for reading and any advice greatly appreciated.

    Hi Lorz

I'm bipolar too, although, having tried many meds, I've never had the ones you mention, maybe soemone else can help on that score.  What I can say is that its worth sticking with this trial and error of meds as eventually they will find a combo that suits you and you will be well.  My bipolar started in 1984, I wasn't diagnosed until 1998, in which time it had wrecked my marriage, then when I was dioagnosed it took them a few years to find a combo that really suited me.  I'm on Citalopram 40mg (SSRI anti-dep), 3mg Risperidone (anti-psychotic) and 5mg diazepam (benzo) as required but I take it  most days, am tryin g to reduce that one a bit. And also, as a bonus, I take hydroxyzine 25mg, its a sedating anti-histamine as I have a skin condition, but it enables me to get a good nights sleep. I feel really well now and I just wanted you to know that even though its a rocky road, you will eventually feel much better

      Hi Bella2606

I was on 100mg of quetiapine and my phyciatrist was happy to increase to 300mg if needed. When i asked my gp for an increase she did an ecg and said the space between the points was a little long so didnt want to increase dose. That is when phyciatrist changed me to 15mg Aripiprazole in morning and 100mg of Trazodone at night. Unfortunately i dont find this combonation as good but will have to give it more time!

How are you? Any advice you can give me will be much appreciated. Take care

      Thanks
