Birth control pills for perimenopause symptoms

Hi lovely ladies

I wondered if anyone has any success with birth control pills for perimenopause symptoms? I'm 46 and definitely peri. My main symptom is debilitating anxiety. I also get lots of joint pain and insomnia and awful head/ear pressure. I'm not really having night sweats (maybe one per month during period) and no hot flushes. I think I must be estrogen dominant (or have massive spikes) as when I tried HRT (estrogen (gel and spray)) the anxiety symptoms were much worse so I stopped. I"ve been doing a lot of research as it seems that sometimes HRT can make symptoms worse in peri and birth control pills can sometimes help as it suppresses your natural cycle.

Would love to hear if anyone had any success with this in peri? Either the combined pill or progesterone only. I'm desperate to get out of this hell.

Thanks so much x

I'm estrogen dominant as well. I have endo and edeno, allergy/flu like symptoms and anxiety (and all the scary physical symptoms that come with it). My obgyn put me on the mini pill (progesterone only) and while it might be helping with my endo and adeno pain, it doesn't help with my anxiety at all. She had me see a psychiatrist and I was prescribed anti depression and anti anxiety meds and only then did my anxiety went away. It's not completely gone, I still get anxious fr time to time but the physical symptoms of anxiety - tachycardia, chest/neck/nape/head/shoulders/arms, shaking and numbness are about I'd say 85% gone. I just started this week so maybe in time they will go away completely.

The pill made me feel terrible! I have found the most success with natural treatments...for instance (Evening Primrose Oil and Ashwagandha) have helped me. But I think I don't make enough estrogen so I took Boron and played with doses of that and it seems to have helped. I also got a natural progesterone (bioidentical) from a doctor in our area who specializes and understands this horrible time for women. That has helped me so much! Anxiety is the WORST and I thought it would kill me for a while. Milk thistle and Gaba were also helpful to me too. I did a ton of research and looked for alternative doctors...they really seemed to be the only ones who were helpful to me. I pray this passes for you soon. Just know that you are NOT alone XOXO
