Bisiporol effects

So as a recently diagnosed AFib patient I was put on Bisip. No real effects until I took some gout medication. Big time reaction, felt like I was going keel over and very unwell. My doctor said its not compatible with Bisip and by the way we need to increase your dose from 5mg to 7.5mg and target 10mg. Question I have for the long term Bisip folks, I feel like my heart is going to fly out of my chest and I am suffering constant chest discomfort. Is this normal for increased doseage or may be I need to go and get another check up.

Any exoerience on increased problems

    Hi Fearless,

I have been having chest & back pains/feeling Breathless and several other side effects .

Stopped the bisoprolol yesterday and feeling it subside/much better

Still feel very tens and stiif muscle's /slight pain + breathless might be withdrawal symptoms not sure...

Talk to your doctor about and try find out which of the medicines causes the side effects ...this might be a trial and error experiment

I tried taking the bisprolol an hour later than the rest of my medicines i'm on to pin point it's reaction ...hope this helps ...hope you feel better soon !

So sorry that you had to go thru this, dear fearless !

Yes - as you said: "may be I need to go and get another check up."  ...  Unfortunately there is cost involved - of office visits (OVs), Lab-co-payments and the cost of the very medication needed. As for Bisoprolol... it is supposed to help... but seems to ruin everyday life for some folks  - due to a page-long number of side-effects...tiredness, lack of energy, ringing in ears, dizzyness, etc.          Well, those are part of mine, and since I get this sense of urgency of chores which need doing, I "pull" myself together, and those around me think - "Oh - she's o.k. - so why is she complaining about side-effects" - - but they don't see that once at home,  the recovery period ruins the following day in a total slump.

Seems that your Doc is suggesting to increase your dosage, in order to " keep your heart from flying out of your chest " as this Betablocker is supposed to DECREASE  the heartrate !!!    Unfortunately the Docs only have certain medications  allowed by medical protocol to be prescribed for certain conditions, regardless of side effects (SEs) --  yet if your present doctor is a general practioner - or internist, it might be worth to ask that Doc politely, if a 2nd opinion by a specialist might bring more possible solutions about tolerable medications and could he suggest a cardiologist ?  You want to be honest here and not close doors, by just going to another Doc, without your present Doc's input... but I am sure you are aware of this.

You may 1st want to check with your insurance to get them to agree to payment options for that 2nd opinion to which you have a right!   Then of course you need to consider higher copays, and cost of all the tests the Specialist has to run to arrive at a diagnosis and his idea of meds to try... If you are sent to a hospital for certain tests, ask them for a cost quote prior to scheduling the test ... The insurance may have some suggestions on how best to go about conferring this request to your present Doc. .... I've gotten so where I double check most all medical moves with the insurance first...It worries me to hear that 5mg of Bisoprolol have not even relieved your actual symptoms somewhat, and I would not wait long.

AFibs are not something to leave untreated for long....

I do wish you well - and do wish you well very soon !!!........3-25-15

I had atrial flutter and have been on Bisoprolol 10mg for 9 months and apart from cold hands and feet sometimes, no real horrible side effects.

Go back to your Doctor. Bisoprolol is keeping me well.

I would imagine you are on a anticoagulation program like me?

    Wishing you well.
