Bisoprolol 2.5mg - Heart palpitating when falling asleep

Hi,

I had an episode of SVT which went on for a few hours and ended up having to go to hospital. They gave me adenosine twice to try to get it back to sinus rhythm which did not work. In the end they gave me IV beta blocker which gradually bought the heart rate down. I have been sent home with 2.5mg of Bisoprolol to take daily. However, since being home every night when start to fall asleep my heart jolts and begins palpitating. I am 90% sure it is due to the Bisoprolol as it is the only thing I have done differently since being home, however my GP has told me it is not as Bisoprolol as it prevents palpitations rather than causes them. I have tried taking the medication at different times of day but this has made little difference. Please could anybody advise if they have had similar experiences and if so what they did to help? I am scared to come off the medication in case my SVT returns.

    I absolutely hated biso.

I was put on it for SVT (AT)back in feb 2016. When I was on it, I had so much fatigue. I could hardly get off the sofa. My hands and feet were always freezing.

When I went for my first attempted ablation, I was told to just stop it 5 days prior. I asked if that was ok to stop and was assured it was just fine. WELL, it was not fine. I had huge anxiety that affected me physically and mentally. and, at the time I did not realize I was experiencing withdrawals from the biso and thought it was plain anxiety. My gp put me on trazadone and a benzo (Klonopin. Worst decision of my life. I took it for 18 months and then had the gruellng task of having to withdrawal from these. That took 9 months to come off and experienced 1 1/2 year after that with withdrawal symptoms

Anyways..... If I had realized this was withdrawal from the biso, I would never had put myself through this.

While on the biso, I did not have episodes. After I abruptly stopped it, my episodes started back up..

I told my EP that I would rather have tachy than feel the way I did on biso.
