Bisoprolol and Ramipril

Hi,

Has anybody taken Bisoprolol alongside other BP reduction medication and had side effects? I am currently on 5 mg Bisoprolol and 5mg Ramipril daily and since starting taking them (3rd day today) I have been experiencing severe stomach cramps which have affected my movement and kept me awake during the night with pain.

Will be going back to the GP to discuss this if things don't improve but wondered whether anybody else has experienced the stomach pains.

    I have been on both, but never experienced stomach cramps.  I have looked it up on Google - keying each one in individually, ie Bisoprolol and stomach pain.  They can both cause this.  Just wondering if you have read the drug leaflet?  I am guilty of not bothering and it wasn't until a few years of taking these two, that I eventually shifted myself and read them.  I also checked on-line.  I think you are right to discuss this with your GP - ASAP.  You could always have a word with your Pharmacist if you can't get an appointment?  I hope you get sorted.  Kind Regards, Denise.

    e reply, I have read the leaflet and it is one of the side effects however the pains have lasted 3 days straight so far and are very severe. Wondered whether the mixing with the Ramipril caused it as I have been on the Ramipril for months without a single side effect.

    I might pop into the pharmacy tomorrow and have a word.

      Hi

      I read each one individually on Google and both drugs could give this side effect.  Try not to make it a 'might' tomorrow and make it one of your priorities?  It is so easy to put things off and whatever he/she says/advises, it can only be good.  I find the Pharmacists better (dare I say it!) than the doctors most of the time.  Do let us know how things go.

    Maybe go onto drugs and klick on interactions.  Maybe that will tell you something

    I also take Bisoprolol and Ramipril. I have been taking these for five years. I haven't had stomach pain but I was advised by the pharmacist to take the Bisop. in the morning and the Ramipril in the evening. This seems to work ok. What really made a difference regarding the Bisoprolol was making sure to take it on top of a good protein breakfast, i.e. eggs. This seems to slow down the absorption and lessens that hit by a truck sensation ! Hope you feel better soon.
