Bisoprolol for AF & Ferrous fumarate

Hello everyone

have checked for the answer to my question in previous posts but cannot find anything. So I hope not to waste you're time and hope there is someone else on here who can help with my query.

I have just been prescribed 325mg ferrous fumarate for iron deficiency anaemia. I already take 5mg per day of the beta blocker Bisoprolol for Atrial Fibrillation. My question is, is there any interactions between these two medications? Should it take them at different times of the day?, do they stop each other working as well as they should in any way or form?.

Hopefully the doctor who prescribed them would have told me if there was any interactions but I thought I'd check if there was any folk on here taking the same tablets who can speak from they're own personal experience.

Thank you Guys!!

Andy

    Hi Andy,

I was on Ferrous Fumerate 3 times a day a couple of years ago, I also take

2.5mg of Bisoprolol for AF, I didn't experience any problems at all.

Hi I've googled to see if both drugs interact with each other and nothing's come up. As you say your GP should've been aware of there was a problem but more so the pharmacist who dispensed them would have advised you if there was a problem. If you couldn't take both he/she would've rang your GP to alter your prescription. So as far as I can see there shouldn't be a problem .

    Hi Andrew.

I am taking both of these medications at the same time and I have not had any problems at all. I am on such a lot of medication that I have to check that they all work together at the same time.

Hi Andy, my advice would be to give the pharmacy a ring, they are pretty good, and if they have your medications on their computer as mine does, they will quickly put your mind at ease.  Good luck with your query.  Best wishes,

Thank you to all for you're help and time given in replying to my question.

A bit more background behind the reason for asking it. After my first day taking iron tablets, that night for the first time in 5 months I had an Atrial Fibrillation "attack".

I guess now it must have had a different trigger and not the introduction of iron that day like I first thought. It was very very close and humid that day, perhaps it was something to do with that? Being no air to breathe in bed?.
