I have had open heart surgery which caused PAF, I was considering asking for Ablation therapy to get off my meds , 1 of which is warfarin,,I also struggle with weight issues, due I think to the lethargy caused by Bisoprolol, but my main issue with the drug is sleep disorder , I awake at around 4.00 am feeling very panicky (not me pre op) and usually have to sit up ,Breathlessness also seems to be another side effect,.

    Any suggestion Re; Ablation welcome

    Hi

I am a 58 year old male and was dignosed with SVT a couple of years ago.The cardiologist suggested Bisoprolol at 1.25mg but I didn't like the sound of the side effects so I didn't take it up. I was getting incidents of racing heart and feeling awful about once every 6-8 weeks and was managing to get myself back to sinus rhythm after an hour or so, but it was getting to be a drag and I began to dread the events so after a particulalry nasty one I went to my GP for the prescription. I've been on it now for 4 months. I have got tingly hands which are feeling the cold more and I think that i am more tired than I was. I also think that my bowels are looser and I am going more frequently - maybe three times a day. I walk for pleasure- long walks. So far I have manged to continue to do up to 14 miles or so in a day but I think I am slower and more tired at the end of the day. The medication does not seem to have lowered my heart rate or my bloood pressure but I have only had once incident of SVT since starting the meds and that actually sorted itself out after an hour. I have asked for a re-referral to the cardiologist to discuss the ablation route.
